ROCKETEER BODY DOUBLE FOR JENNIFER CONNELLY

35TH ANNIVERSARY FILM SCREENING APRIL 28, 2026

Back in 1991 I was the body double for Jennifer Connelly during the filming of “The Rocketeer.” Originally I was hired by Central Casting to be a dancer in the ballroom scenes. It was so fun and we made lots of “golden time” pay because we were all SAG actors and often we were on the set for hours. I was managing the Greenfield Apartments in Westwood so had plenty of down time to do extra work in Hollywood. When Central Casting told me I was chosen to be Jenny’s body double I was thrilled. I got to work with hunky Bill Campbell, Timothy Dalton and our fearless director Joe Johnston. I was her cleavage in one scene, her hands twisting a radio on a zeppelin, her feet kicking the bad guy, etc. In one scene I had to stare into Bill Campbells’ eyes while he smiled and almost kissed me ! Anyway, I made lots of money and had a blast. Joseph Leahy, a fellow actor, and I went to the premier on Hollywood Boulevard at the El Capitan Theatre.

Attending the film screening at the Barnsall Art Park to benefit the Foundation was a very memorable experience for me. Special thanks to Holli Winterhalter for being my “stylist.” I even signed a few autographs !

Greek Nights & Adriatic Delights

Athens Greece to Trieste Italy May 15 to May 25, 2022

Here are some photos of our big trip. I have to say that it was tough to comply with all of the covid restrictions. From the mandatory mask mandates, covid testing, vaccine proof cards, etc. it was almost tempting to cancel the cruise and just stay home ! We made it through and had a fantastic time with old and new friends from our Catalina Island Yacht Club.

Father’s Day Car Show at the Balboa Bay Club

Every year the Balboa Bay Club hosts a specialty car show on Father’s Day. This year’s event was awesome ! They had a full house, or parking lot, of vintage, new, and specialty cars from all over California. My special treat was when Richard Moriarity showed up. He is one of the “world’s most interesting men” in may opinion. Of course he pulled up in his red Ferrari in an illegal parking space and just got out of the car with his beautiful wife. He hung out with us commoners for a while and was hilarious. Here are some photos:

Kathy’s Catalina

Not too far, just off the coast

is a beautiful island of which I can boast

You’ll see dolphins on the way, they never fail to show

A sea lion or Mako, they always seem to know

How to steal your bait when fishing for a dab

Or the elusive white sea bass you never will nab.

So take the flyer or the express

and you will  forget the big city mess

On Catalina Island I can be free

To sail upon the blue green sea

And gaze at Avalon’s harbor moon

where pirates and mermaids sing you their tune

There’s a bounty of fish that hide in the kelp

But better know the rules and get Captain Roger’s help

Don’t mess with lobster out of season

or orange Garibaldi for no other reason

Take the death march from town it is always a toughie

You’ll pass by the grave of our dearly departed Duffy.

To the Inn at Mt. Ada where the Wrigley’s did sing

You can visit the cross where Russell gave Caroline her ring.

The buffalo roam wild, you might see them one day,

Stomping the grapes for my Rusack chardonnay.

Have your wicky wacked at Larry’s, fresh fish at the grill

Zip line and snorkel to add to the thrill

sing some karaoke, pole dance at Chi Chi,

chill at Descanso, try the ceviche.

In the end it’s an island, a magical place

love it or leave it, I rest my case.

February 2021

For more information: www.kakofannyproductions.com
Vegas is open at 35% dining, casinos and shows.  Many of the big shows are still closed.  50% indoors on March 15, 2021.

Check the weather and bring warm clothes for outdoor dining.  Right now most resorts are celebrating Chinese New Year, Year of the OX and you should all visit the beautiful Conservatory at Bellagio https://bellagio.mgmresorts.com/en/entertainment/conservatory-botanical-garden.html?ecid=GMB_BE. There is a line but it is so worth it.
My other favorites that you should see – Circa Resort and the Stadium Swim Pools in downtown Vegas and all of Fremont Street – https://vegasexperience.com. Circa has multiple pools, the world’s largest bar, and a great sports book.  It is only 21 or older.Carry your drivers license and masks for every casino.  They take your temperature at many of the casinos. On the strip I like Cosmopolitan, The Wynne, the newly remodeled Mirage Resort and Ceasars Palace for shopping and lunch (Water Grill, The Palm, Gordon Ramsays, Joe’s Seafood, Carmines, True Foods, Vanderpump) https://www.caesars.com/caesars-palace/things-to-do. For non casino hotels there is a Four Seasons https://www.fourseasons.com/lasvegas and Vdara https://vdara.mgmresorts.com
For outdoor dining on the strip I like the places at Fashion Show Mall – there are some good restaurants – Ra Sushi – I know the manager Jonathan – El Segundo Sol has great margaritas – Indoors at the Fashion Show Mall they have The Capital Grille – and Mangiamos for Italian.
Other good places on the strip: The Eiffel Tower restaurant in Paris, Bouchon in the Venetian, Prime Steakhouse in Bellagio with a view of the fountains.  Mon Ami Gabi (great French steak and salmon) is across the street in Paris, also with great fountain views. Lago is in the Bellagio and has great fountain views but not such great food.
The best restaurants off the strip are Pieros (classic Italian old style Vegas), The Golden Steer (Steaks), Ferraros for Italian, and the Italian American Club (not private anymore.)

The Strat has rides https://thestrat.com. Super scary bungee jumping, very high up – best happy hour in town at Sky Pod and Top of the World has great steaks rotating over Vegas.
For activities:

The Mob Museum is very fun, you have to experience the speakeasy and learn how to shoot like a cop https://themobmuseum.org
Area15 https://area15.com Is a new, hip venue – better for young people but lots of activities and bars.

Red Rock for Hiking but you must have a reservation https://www.redrockcanyonlv.org
Most out of towners dress casual and jeans/no jackets are ok.  However, we women always dress up with lots of bling and the guys wear a Robert Graham shirt or jacket with jeans for the fun of it https://www.simon.com/mall/the-forum-shops-at-caesars-palace/stores/robert-graham
Bring cash for TIPPING because the waiters, valets, etc. all pay taxes on their tips and love cash. Slot machines only take cash. It helps for good service to have cash.

Vegas is almost back to normal…

Now that Pieros is finally open (only Friday and Saturday) can a “normal” Vegas be far behind? It is not easy to get a great spot at Freddy’s Pieros but my friends are VIP’s and we were lucky enough to tag along to enjoy the amazing cuisine (Freddy told me to “get the sausage and peppers” in his gravely trademark voice…). My husband got the veal parmesan and it was enough to feed a family of 8! Everyone who is anyone was there the other night, including MARK DAVIS, owner of the billion dollar Raiders, who was holding court with casino owners, gorgeous blonds, and who knows who else. My husband actually had the guts to go up to Mark and ask him “when are you going to let the fans in to the new stadium to watch a game????” He replied that when ALL the fans can get in (due to pandemic rules) and not just a few select ticket holders, that is when it will open up. Sigh…you have to admire his resolve. I think he is a great guy and must have to put up with a lot of BS during these times! I am going to repost this photo of us taken in January 2020 at the Ballet Ball.
