CES – The Big Day is here!

I am off to check out the latest and the greatest the whole world has to offer. I’ll keep you posted on all the goodies and cool stuff that this 60+ gal has to offer you. I hope my feet will make it to hit my goal of 10,000 steps today!

This just in from my favorite morning 1440 Daily Digest – it keeps me posted on a daily basis with news, headlines, etc. so here ya go!

One of the world’s largest electronics and technology conferences returns to Las Vegas today, with 100,000 people expected to attend the four-day 2023 Consumer Electronics Show. The annual show-and-tell event, which began in 1967, allows companies to preview their latest innovations while setting the stage for the year’s biggest trends in tech.

About 3,000 companies, from startups to major brands, including Sony, Apple, and Samsung, are expected to exhibit their products at CES. This year’s lineup includes a focus on next-generation TVs and laptops, electric vehicles, smart home appliances, and wearables to monitor health and wellness. See the latest news from the event here.

Among the unconventional gadgets are a handheld device from L’Oréal that uses augmented reality to draw the perfect eyebrow and an at-home hands-free toilet device to monitor metabolic and reproductive health. Source: https://join1440.com/?utm_source=nl_fwd_cta_main&utm_medium=email

I attended many trade shows, wrote restaurant reviews (over 250,000 readers), and in general attended lots of parties…hello Turnberry Towers Stirling Club…Westgate Edge Steakhouse…Downtown Circa casino…GO RAIDERS and GO VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS !!

Check back to follow my CES adventures in January – WOO HOO !

More CES Trends and Takeaways from Don Southerton

from last year’s virtual CES show

There were so many things that I could not see or watch during the “virtual” CES trade show. I love this summary by Don Southerton – it really tells us what the heck we should have been paying attention to! Cheers to next year’s January 5-8 show LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS !!!!! http://www.ces.tech

The 2021 All Digital Consumer Electronics Show—CES Trends and Take-aways
By Don Southerton
Last year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada there were over 4,000 exhibitors and more than 170,000 attendees. This year, with the event gone virtual, there are about half that number of exhibitors. Many big companies that in the past dominated the exhibit space opted out of CES 2021.  Still, the companies that did participate showcased many new, innovative products and something for everyone. Surveying the CES Show’s exhibitors and media coverage three trends stand out:

Table for Ten, Again

Kristin Martin trademarked this event after our 2002 Flavors of Orange County was a hit. She has taken this culinary adventure to a new high over the years. In 2021 the lucky charity was the Make a Wish Foundation. Despite the Covid restrictions (facemarks, social distancing, etc.) the event was a huge success. Held at the Bowers Museum for the first time we all had a chance to experience an outdoor setting that would have WOWED even the snootiest florist and foodies in Orange County! You can’t beat this event for wine pairing, silent and live auction, and funds raised for this worthy organization. The county’s top chefs have a blast and try to “outdo” each other. You have to see it to believe it. Here are some of my lame photos of the evening and if I can get a hold of Tony Lattimore’s photos I will add them in…after all he is the pro…

Soho Playhouse wants a new venue – DTLV !

I was not sure what DTLV was but learned that it means Downtown Las Vegas – ok forgive me, but I live on the strip so I wasn’t quite sure. All I know is that I grew up near New York City (Scarsdale) and love love love Broadway theatre. When I met my friend Jena’s brother, Darren Lee Cole, I was thrilled to know that he is working hard to bring off-broadway to Las Vegas! We are desperate for the Smith Center to bring back “Hamilton” and other great shows (post pandemic) and can only hope and imagine what having cool, original, quirky, small venue productions would be like here in Las Vegas. The city dwellers who live downtown are so excited by this prospect and those of us “uptown” would LOVE to catch an early dinner, see a live performance, then hit the downtown Fremont casinos. Darren has an amazing plan to capture existing theatre space, add new seats, and to actually create a downtown off broadway area in the arts district. I think if anyone can do it his team can do it! So far the Mayor, Influential board members, local philanthropists, and JENA’S AMAZING FAMILY (5 brothers, son Michael, and beautiful mom) are all in on this path to the stars…for more information and to help out visit the website www.sohoplayhouse.com

check out my photos of the invitational launch event held at the Commonwealth Rooftop in DTLV !

Allegiant Stadium Tour worth it for this new Raiders fan…

Since moving to Las Vegas a few years ago I was immediately convinced that I should be an official Raiders fan. I toured the Raiders preview center with the foundation folks, started watching the football games with friends who have been loyal fans for years, and actually met Mark Davis, the owner, at our local watering hole (Pieros). I was hooked and even bought a bunch of Raiders gear from “D” at the Westgate Raiders shop! Call me crazy but I flew back to Vegas from the OC just to tour the new stadium, thanks to the Rapps…

All I can say is that it was totally worth it. When asked by the tour guide what was my favorite part of the tour I could not help but yell out “THE RAIDERETTES LOCKER ROOM!!” Yes, those fabulous vintage uniforms, cool dressing room, lighted mirrors with the ladies names on them, and the photos of the beautiful cheerleaders made me think of my past glory days as an Edgemont high school cheerleader back in 1976 Scarsdale, NY – oh the memories…

Check out my photos – love love love this new stadium and can’t wait to maybe attend a game one day…

My EHS cheerleader days – I was Captain!
